Post Installing Blow-Off Valve (BOV)
Since I've got the last year T5-equipped car, I can install a BOV. :)

I saw this: http://www.lehigh.edu/~cak7/Upgrades/Custom/BOV.html . From what I understand, you don't even need to buy a BOV in order to do this. Has someone done this previously and are there any more detailed instructions?

Any other suggestions concerning BOVs?

You don't need to do all that in order to turn your bpv into a bov.
Just take off the recirculation hose going from the bypass to the intake, plug the hole in the intake and preferably put on a small air filter on the open end of the bpv an voilla you have a bov!

Only works with T5 cars, so only up to 1999.

If you mean the Sport Sedan it does not work for sure. The bpv on those is located directly on the turbo so it's a whole other design then on gm900/og9-3.

Yes, but it requires quite big mods and I don't know if anyone is sure about how it really works in terms of different crucial engine parameters and so forth.

The way to do this is to move the MAF to the pressure side, ie. between the bpv/bov and the throttle body on the delivery pipe.
But this will require a retune of the ECU since the air is pressurized through the MAF and I just know of two Saabs in Sweden that does this and I haven't seen any hard data from these
Also one of the guys said that it still is very difficult to make the car run smoothly with and bov, the valve has to be tuned just right to make it work.

So basically the answer to the question is no. Even if it theoretically would be posiible, why go through all the hassle just to have the car sound "cool" even though that might compromise the whole engine
By putting on a open air intake you will have some swooshing and hear the stock bpv much better.

yeah, I have an open air intake, I just thought maybe I could upgrade, but if it's like that, it's not worth it..............

Yepp, not worth it.
But if you are talking about the car in your signature you have Trionic 8 on you car and thus the bypass valve incorporated in the turbo.

Yeah, I know i have a bypass valve, but i just wanted to know if I could upgrade to a BOV but it seems like its not worth it and even if it was, it'd be tooo much money

If the MAF is not on the air box it is a T-5
