Post Mesh Grille
I found this mesh grille for my car (http://www.stateofnine.com/page/stateofnine/PROD/SONSSMGRILLE), but $495 seems to pricey for something this simple......so I'm thinking of fabricating my own...Any suggestions???

I photoshop'd some pics just to see what it might come out to look like, But I'm still deciding whether or not to hide the main chrome center "wing"...... Image

Personally, I think that looks very good. But it is your car, and entirely up to you to decide what you think looks good or not good.

In any case, let us know how it goes. I like seeing all this stuff, as it gives me ideas for my car.

Also, you'll find some tutorials kicking around the web for how to do a lot of grill work yourself. It is certainly cheaper than the $495, and if you take your time it will turn out just as nice.

Gutter Guard from Home Depot at $3.28. The Home Depot in the US has them a lot cheaper as they sell several sheets for that price.

All you need is a good wire snips, or sisors like I got from the $0.99 store and some really good gloves so you donèt cut yourself

Here's a pic of mine 8-)

I like the look, but yea, very overpriced. Get a dremel and go to work.

The thing is the one for sale, doesn't cut any part of the stock grille. It just goes over it. So I was thinking of doing the same.

Cut what? I cut the mesh to the grille. I never touched the grille. You just seperate the black part of the grille from the chrome and sandwitch the mesh in between 8-) It's a breeze. Do you need pics? I can link you to a tutorial.

I cut the mesh to fit inside the chrome part of the grille (as tightly as i could get it) then took very thin wire and wrapped it around the existing grille fins in a couple spots. The grille doesnt look great from up close, but I am satisfied with my work

If you seperate the grille, the plane wings with SAAB on it will be under the mesh .

Get the gutter guard from Home Depot they sell something like 3 sheets for 3 bucks IIRC. The first attempt is always a miss so don't be discouraged. The second time around it'll look a lot better and will take you a lot less time to do as well 8-)

Yeah I know what you mean, but until something goes wrong with it, I am not going to do it again, because it looks good enough for me.....

The thing with the gutter gaurd that you should know is that over time it will get a dull oxidized look unless you treat it with a sealer first.

Not sure if you did or not but just thought I would mention it.

Looks good though.

Ok cool.. my first grille was out of gutter gaurd and in 2 months it was a nasty dull unpolished aluminum looking color.

Stripped it off and redid it with some clear spray first and then installed it... much better now.
